Client Engagement Details
Our client is a profitable FinTech startup focused on consumer lending and earned wage access. They've raised significant funding ($50M+) and are experiencing strong growth with ~500K subscribers and 2.5M+ accounts opened.
The Opportunity: As they scale, they need experienced technical leadership to help them navigate the challenges of rapid growth. They're looking for someone who can provide both strategic vision and tactical execution to help the engineering organization evolve.
What We Need: A direct technical leader who can clearly articulate what needs to be done while being deeply involved in implementation details. This person should be an expert in all aspects of engineering and ideally product as well.
Engagement Model: Start fractional (part-time) to assess the organization and develop strategic plans. Strong potential to transition to full-time CTO if there's mutual alignment. Pure fractional engagement (without full-time path) will be considered for the right candidate.

Required Qualifications
- US-based (remote anywhere in the USA).
- Fluent speaking and writing English with ability to have real-time technical and strategic conversations.
- 3+ years of technical leadership experience as CTO or VP of Engineering.
- Deep FinTech experience, ideally in the lending sector.
- Proven track record scaling engineering teams through growth phases.
- Hands-on + Strategic Balance.
- Direct Technical Leadership. Clear communicator who can state what needs to be done and make decisions confidently.
- Experience assessing and developing engineering organizations.
- Ability to identify bottlenecks and provide strategic technical vision while remaining tactical.
- Experience with technical leadership structures and organizational design.
- Comfortable working with executive teams and providing clear technical guidance.
- Comfortable evaluating and working with niche technology choices.
Nice to haves
- Hands-on experience implementing AI/ML systems in production.
- Hands-on experience in Flutter, Go microservices, DynamoDB and AWS.
- Product management experience or deep collaboration with product teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated ability.

Most of our engagements are long-term in nature. That said, if the current engagement is ramping down, we’ll present you with more long-term opportunities to transition into.
